August 18, 2015 – SAN DIEGO – The Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation invites you to the latest in their Jacobs Presents performances and cultural experiences series. An Evening of Tango, featuring the acclaimed Los Angeles ensemble Tinto Tango, comes to the Joe & Vi Jacobs Center (404 Euclid Avenue, San Diego, CA 92114) this Saturday, August 22! Proceeds from the event go towards the Jacobs Center’s support of educational programs and creative career pathways in Southeastern San Diego’s Diamond Neighborhoods.
An Evening of Tango promises to be more than an event, it will be an experience! Start the evening at 6 p.m. by learning the history and culture of tango with live music and a performance by professional tango instructor Florentino Guizar and other exceptional dancers. You’ll also learn some basic tango dance moves. Take a break and enjoy delicious wines from Argentina and authentic empanadas. Then at 9 p.m. the Jacobs Center’s Celebration Hall transforms into Club Milonga for a unique tango club experience with Tinto Tango performing. Try out the tango moves you learned earlier in the evening or watch the pros heat up the dance floor.
Tickets are only $29 and get you in to both the cultural performance and tango lessons as well as Club Milonga. Purchase yours today at jacobspresentstango.eventbrite.com or at the door.
The Jacobs Center is working with the community to revitalize Southeastern San Diego’s Diamond Neighborhood. Part of this work includes creating an arts and culture district supported by Jacobs Presents. Jacobs Presents brings arts and culture to the area making it easy for residents to experience theater, music, and learn about other cultures in their own community. It is also an opportunity for the rest of San Diego to experience the Diamond Neighborhoods and celebrate renowned performing arts and the local diversity of the area in a state-of-the art venue only minutes from downtown.
