Jacobs Center Invites Community to “Celebrating the Arts @ Chollas Creek” Public Art and Family-Fun Event

Join us at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation’s Arts Park @ Chollas Creek for a family friendly day of unveiling new public art, joining in a parade and enjoying FREE refreshments!

WHEN: Saturday, July 27, 12:30 – 2 p.m.
COST: FREE!
RSVP: Encouraged, but not required, so we have enough fun for all!

12:30 p.m. | Join the children’s drumming workshop and enjoy FREE food from Churros X Chocolate, Tortillas De Lola and more!

1 p.m. | Hear a warm welcome from Jacobs Center President and CEO Reginald Jones, SD City Councilmember Monica Montgomery, City of SD Commission for Arts and Culture Executive Director Jonathan Glus and City of SD Economic Development Deputy Director Lydia Moreno.

1:30 p.m. | Join in the park parade led by drummers, stilt walkers from Fern Street Circus and puppets from San Diego Guild of Puppetry to cut the ribbon at “Chollas Realm,” the gateway custom-designed just for our park! Hear San Diego-based artist Roman de Salvo share about what inspired him to create the archway! It may be closer than you think…or right under your feet!

1:45 p.m. | Proceed on with the parade to the 10-foot, cactus-shaped sculpture, “Visualize Biodiversity,” and hear from Artist Deedee Morrison about the butterflies, beetles and other shapes laser-cut into the LED light sculpture.
