Overview:
Closeline Settlements is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Title Examiner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing abstracts, title reports, and title commitments to ensure compliance with company, underwriter, and state-specific requirements. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of title insurance, capable of identifying and resolving title issues efficiently.

You’ll collaborate closely with our operations team to deliver accurate and timely title binders for purchase and refinance transactions across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review title abstract reports to verify the status of title and insurability by examining legal documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, liens, judgments, probates, and assessments.
• Prepare and finalize title commitments using information within the company’s internal settlement system.
• Analyze the chain of title, identify exceptions and requirements, and update records accordingly.
• Identify and help resolve title issues by providing clear direction to operations staff regarding lien clearance and document remediation.
• Communicate with underwriters to evaluate risk and determine the need for exceptions or additional actions.
• Upload and manage title documentation in Closeline’s proprietary processing system.

Skills:

• Proven experience examining real estate titles and legal documents.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Understanding of risks and liabilities associated with title insurance and commitments.
• Familiarity with multi-state title examination and requirements is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
• Experience with title underwriting systems and document management platforms is a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience.
