Theatre Music Director - Part-Time job at Wheaton Park District Wheaton, IL, US

Job Description

Responsible for the music direction and instruction of theatrical productions. REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Minimum age of 21 with a background in performing arts, music, and theater. Experience working with children is required. The ability to act as rehearsal accompanist and lead pianist/conductor for performances is highly preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead music rehearsals for productions. Actively participate in rehearsals with interaction and demonstration. Assist with selecting scripts/shows for production. Assist with auditions, supervising cast, crew, and volunteers. Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer. Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines. Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis. Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC.

Must have and maintain: CPR/AED certified or obtain within one (1) year of employment. Be a “Mandated Reporter” for the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: occasionally remain in a stationary position for long periods of time and frequently move about for extended periods of time and ascend/descend stairs/ladder; and frequently position oneself to move items such as stage props, etc. weighing up to 25 lbs. and occasionally overhead and shoulders up to 10 lbs.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: consistently work indoors in a theater environment with exposure to dust, odors, and heights up to 12 feet.

HOURS

Will start in January 2025 to teach music for Children's Playhouse productions. Rehearsals Monday and Thursday 5:30pm to 7:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 12:00pm. The Music Director will not be needed for all rehearsals, only music rehearsals during the start of rehearsal process, tech and performances.

SALARY

$15.00-$18.00 DOQ
