Source One is a consulting services company and were currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant with our direct client, a global autonomous vehicle company in Los Altos, CA This position will require you to be ONSITE.

Title: Sr UX Researcher

Onsite (Mon-Fri, 40 hours)

Contract Duration: 6 months, with likely extension

w2 Rate: $85.00 - $105.00 per hour

Our Client is seeking a Senior UX Researcher to join its team in building a much more intelligent vehicle that places humans at the center of a more evocative and safer driving experience.

In this role, you'll lead the effort to define user needs and use cases and evaluate prototypes at various levels of design fidelity, including with HMI HW installed in a vehicle.

We're looking for someone with a Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Human factors, or a related field, or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate has experience in mixed methods and is proficient in statistical analysis methods.

As a UX Researcher, you will:

• Design and conduct user studies to gather insights to guide iterations of multimodal interaction designs and HMIs.
• Propose and own the timeline of UX studies and work with the project owner, design team, engineering team, and TPM to ensure timely delivery of relevant insights to drive feature decisions.
• Conduct a needs assessment of customers, including competitor benchmarking, literature review, contextual inquiries, vehicle ride-alongs, interviews, and questionnaires.
• Work closely with the project owner and design team to prioritize use cases and features to meet customer needs.
• Conduct usability studies at various levels of fidelity depending on HMI SW/HW maturity and modality (i.e., online studies, clickable/paper prototypes, bench HW setups, full vehicle HW).
• Learn how to use all HMI SW/HW to independently execute user studies without significant technical support.
• Recruit and compensate internal TRI participants and work with a recruiter to bring in external participants.
• Work with and delegate tasks to a research assistant to aid in the preparation and execution of user studies.
• Present quantitative and qualitative user study results and insights via written reports and presentations to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Human factors, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience with mixed-methods approaches
• Proficiency in statistical analysis methods
• Proven ability to work both independently and with a diverse team including designers, researchers, engineers, and managers
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across different audiences
• Have a high level of initiative and self-motivation, work without direct supervision

• Experience conducting UX research in industry
• Familiarity with multimodal interaction systems
• Familiarity conducting studies with HMIs deployed on complex hardware in the field
