We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Staff Accountant who thrives on accuracy, organization, and problem-solving. In this role, you’ll oversee key accounting functions, maintain precise financial records, and ensure that all obligations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers are met on time. The Senior Staff Accountant works closely with company leadership to provide financial insights that guide strategy and operations. This role is essential in safeguarding the financial health of the company, and requires discretion, professionalism, and a strong commitment to confidentiality.

Core Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Reporting

  1. Complete general ledger accounting tasks, including accurate data entry.
  2. Manage construction job costing and preparation of Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports.
  3. Produce timely and accurate financial statements for ownership, general managers, and department leads.
  4. Perform month-end and year-end reconciliations and reporting.
  5. Support business tax preparation and compliance activities for company CPA..
  6. Oversee sales tax tracking and reporting for projects.
  7. Perform financial forecasting, including cash flow and profit & loss projections.
  8. Prepare responses to internal and external audit requests.
  9. Perform additional finance reconciliations and special projects as needed.

Payroll and Employee Benefits

  1. Run weekly payroll and ensure accuracy of payroll taxes.
  2. Administer employee benefit programs.
  3. Reconcile time-off accruals in coordination with payroll records.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  1. Perform accounts receivable functions, including invoicing and client payment tracking.
  2. Manage accounts payable for vendor invoices, credit cards, and business accounts.

Vendor and Trade Coordination

  1. Maintain Trade Agreements and collect required insurance certificates from subcontractors and suppliers.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  2. 3+ years of experience in a financial management or senior accounting role.
  3. Experience with construction job costing and WIP reporting.
  4. Familiarity with Sage 100 Contractor software (preferred).
  5. In-depth knowledge of general ledger accounting and GAAP principles.
  6. Experience with cash flow management.
  7. Proficiency in payroll systems and payroll tax reporting.
  8. Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace applications.
