About the Opportunity:

Chelsea Piers is looking for a strategic marketing leader to oversee all marketing activities for our sports and events businesses in Chelsea, Stamford, and Brooklyn. The Senior Director will be an essential member of the leadership team, responsible for managing a substantial team and budget to drive customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth across a variety of product offerings within our sports businesses. This role requires the ability to develop comprehensive marketing strategies while optimizing our marketing efforts and delivering measurable business results. The Senior Director should have strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with colleagues including product, creative, in-venue operations, and the leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Steward the Chelsea Piers brand and any sub-brands in collaboration with VP of Brand for Chelsea Piers Fitness, ensuring cross-portfolio alignment and complementary execution of brand marketing efforts.
  • Conduct market research to identify Ideal Customer Profiles through quantitative and qualitative data analysis, informing customer segmentation for use across marketing channels.
  • Create annual strategic marketing plans in partnership with CFO, CPO, CPCT ED, and sports leaders to achieve revenue and operational KPIs.
  • Develop platform-specific social media strategies aligned with brand voice and business objectives, including content calendars, engagement goals, and performance metrics.
  • Direct omnichannel sports advertising strategy in collaboration with the Director of Digital Marketing.
  • Orchestrate a holistic content strategy spanning email, social, blog, and emerging platforms, with an emphasis on copywriting to develop the brand tone of voice.
  • Foster great creative output in partnership with the Creative Director to unify visual identity across paid media, collateral, emails, and venue signage.
  • Spearhead budget development in collaboration with Director of Digital Marketing, including research, SEO, social, advertising, content, email, signage, and data. Approve bills and track spending against budget.
  • Streamline data collection frameworks with Digital Marketing Director and Sports Product Manager to enable predictive analytics and insight generation
  • Steer strategic media relations through PR agency collaboration and executive spokesperson training programs
  • Develop and maintain marketing team relationships with community groups such as HRPT, local community boards, and government groups.
  • Track and manage all CP trademarks , including responding to periodic infringement issues, supporting our Trademark attorneys to ensure timely completion of trademark renewals, and supporting requests for new trademark applications.

Qualifications:

  • 10 plus years of marketing experience, including time in a leadership and people management position
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in brand development and management
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to digest and distill complex information, using it to drive prioritized decision making
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience in the sports, fitness, or hospitality industry a plus
