We’re working with a leading employee-owned commercial contractor based in the Pacific Northwest, known for delivering high-quality projects across healthcare, education, life sciences, mixed-use, and corporate sectors. Our culture is built on teamwork, accountability, and ownership — literally. As an employee-owned company, every team member has a stake in our success through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) .

About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Engineer to join our Seattle team. This individual will play a key role in ensuring safe jobsite operations, compliance with company safety policies, and adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate brings a proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for creating safe, efficient, and compliant project environments.

You’ll work closely with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to identify risks, implement safety controls, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability on every project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project teams in developing and implementing site-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct daily and weekly jobsite safety inspections and report findings.
  • Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with project management to ensure full compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and lead corrective action plans.
  • Maintain all required safety documentation, permits, and reporting logs.
  • Assist in preconstruction planning to integrate safety early in project delivery.
  • Act as a key point of contact for regulatory agencies and client representatives on safety matters.
  • Support the company’s overall goal of zero incidents and a proactive, team-driven safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 3–7 years of construction safety experience with a general contractor (commercial project experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1926 and Washington State WAC safety standards.
  • Current OSHA 30-hour certification required; CHST or CSP certification a plus.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; able to engage and influence field teams effectively.
  • Proficient in safety documentation software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive base salary up to $125,000 (based on experience)
  • Employee Ownership (ESOP): Build long-term wealth through shared company success
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Paid time off, continuing education, and professional development support
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile projects across the Puget Sound region
  • A supportive culture that values teamwork, integrity, and innovation
