Job Description
The Industrial Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of processing and shredding equipment, including material handlers, loaders, skid steers, compressors, conveyors, shredders, electric motors, electric tools and air tools using prints, manuals and necessary tools to ensure all repairs are performed in compliance with the Company's safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible for the maintenance and repair of processing and shredding equipment, including (but not limited to): material handlers, loaders, skid steers, balers, tumblers, compressors, conveyors, shredders, electric motors, electric tools, and air tools.
- Read and use mechanical prints and troubleshoot mechanical issues on equipment such as conveyors, bearings, belts, and framework using tools such as welders, torches, plasma torches, and other fabricating tools.
- Troubleshoot pneumatics and hydraulics using prints and basic tools to work on different circuits. Perform pipe fitting and routing lines working with motors, cylinders, valves, sensors, etc.
- Completes projects and troubleshoots on different voltages, including: 480 VAC, 240 VAC, 120 VAC, and low voltage 24 VDC working with different electrical components and panel building.
- Rigging, lifting, and relocating a variety of complex and heavy machines, equipment, and components.
- Operates personal lifts and material handling equipment.
- Performs unexpected repairs, identifying the source of malfunctions using a variety of tools.
- Applies knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance work.
- Works effectively with team members at all levels of the company in a positive and professional manner.
- Physical labor and lifting of machine equipment is part of the role.
- Willing to work flexible hours (outside normal business hours) when required.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associates or higher degree in Applied Science or a Mechanical field
Work Experience - 2+ years in industrial maintenance
Skills and Knowledge - Strong background of machine repair, machining, and welding
- Skilled in acetylene and electric arc welding
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems is a must
- Proficiency with basic hand/power tools, measuring devices, and electrical testing instruments
- Ability to perform assigned duties with little or no supervision or instruction
- Ability to communicate in English both written and verbally
- Ability to comprehend and follow written procedures, container labels and all safety precautions
- Reliable attendance with strong attention to details.
WORKING CONDITIONS - Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor shop environment. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
