Project Description:

Take your data analytics skills out of the classroom and put them to work where they will have an impact.

This internship is with Xcel Energy in our Mass Market Product Management area. This group is responsible for the delivery of programs to our residential customers that help them use energy in ways that support their lifestyle. We manage renewable energy programs, energy efficiency programs, beneficial electrification programs and the digital tools that enable their delivery.

Your role will be working with the data analytics team and the data systems used in the operations of these programs to perform data pulls, develop reports, and help assure data integrity, to support and enhance our business. You’ll learn gain experience with Salesforce, Tableau, Business Objects, Teradata, Postman, and other tools to analyze big data. You’ll start by shadowing members of the team and as your ability to work with these data sets develops your responsibilities will shift to working more independently to deliver reporting to the teams this group supports.

Projects will include data analytics for business reporting to provide tracking and inform product operations, data support for regulatory reporting and approvals and supporting translation of the system metrics to visual management tools to inform management on how business is trending.

This position is for a Jan 2025. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Current student, Junior or Senior (as of Spring 2025).
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, others within Data Analytics.
• Able to commute to the (Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN)
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week). (select one or both depending on the role).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong working knowledge of Excel including experience developing and using pivot tables.
• Strong formal and informal communication skills. An ability to deliver key messages succinctly in written communication and conversation.
• Completed 1-2 years of data analysis or programming course work.
• Desire to join, contribute and grow in a team environment focused on being successful while enjoying our work.

• Additional Experience with Data Analytics Software
• GPA: 3.0 and above

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.40 to $21.60 per hour

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
