Summary:

The custodian performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the center in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Thoroughly clean all center areas, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and any other common areas within the facility according to the NAECY standards provided by the Center Director
• Perform functions associated with floor and carpet care, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, shampooing, spot scrubbing, etc.
• Remove trash from the facility daily
• Replace paper and soap supplies in restrooms and classrooms as needed
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for children
• Maintain an inventory of custodial supplies and equipment
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Complete other tasks as assigned by Center Director
• Adhere to the CDC Personnel Policies at all times.
• Maintain confidentiality of students/families
• Perform all other job-related duties as assigned and required.
  Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with children
• Minimum 1 year of experience in food service industry, specifically food preparation or cooking
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills
• Must possess or obtain required state and federal clearance

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the day with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending
• Frequent to occasional lifting of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds
• Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out job duties
• Must be willing to travel throughout Erie County
