Art Director - Motion Graphics

Contract; 6+ months

Hybrid; Minneapolis, MN

Rate: $50-80/hr W2

Periodic travel may also be needed.

***Hours will flex between 20-30, and potential for up to 40.

This Art Director (Motion Media) role is responsible for creating video content that is conceptually, visually, sonically and emotionally engaging. Role will work closely with the Creative Director, ACDs, Designer, producers, content managers, vendors, business partners, video editors, sound engineers and other creative professionals to bring each project’s vision to life. All video work will support the broader organization and brand.

Position Overview:

• Develop concepts for video projects, ensuring they align with objectives and audiences
• Craft compelling narratives, mood boards and storyboards that effectively convey the intended message, thematic approach and story arc
• Define and maintain the overall creative vision for each project, ensuring consistency in style, tone, and quality
• Provide art direction on set, guiding talent, camera angles, lighting setups, and compositions to ensure they align with the storyboard and creative vision
• Supervise the editing process, making decisions on cuts, transitions, effects, pacing, color and sound to ensure the final product meets the creative standards
• Collaborate with designers and motion graphics editors
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and staying within budget.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum 4 years of professional communications experience
• Solid portfolio demonstrating breadth of video concepts and execution styles
• Ability to craft engaging stories that resonate with audiences
• Strong sense of aesthetics and ability to conceptualize compelling visuals and sonic treatments
• In-depth understanding of video production processes, successfully communicating needs for shoot direction, lighting, sound, and editing

Proficiency in video editing software, visual effects software and other relevant tools

Comfortable with managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and traveling for shoots
