Opportunity with CarMax

Join our team as a Vehicle Detail Specialist where you will play a pivotal role in keeping our vehicles in pristine condition. Under general supervision, you will conduct cosmetic inspections, perform final quality checks, and ensure vehicles are thoroughly cleaned. You'll be involved in tasks such as paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing CarMax's selection of used, new, and customer vehicles, all upholding CarMax's high standards.

Your responsibilities will also include assisting with Reconditioning Associate duties like zone maintenance, vehicle prep for delivery, inventory scanning, and basic detailing tasks including car washing and vacuuming interiors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute tasks according to standardized processes while maintaining an efficient pace.
• Engage in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives with your team.
• Participate in the training of new associates, with guidance from the Reconditioning Associate Lead.
• Perform cosmetic reconditioning tasks such as paint touch-ups, wet sanding, and buffing.
• Conduct thorough cosmetic inspections.
• Carry out final quality inspections to ensure all vehicles meet our standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in your workspace adhering to CarMax 5S standards.
• Identify defects and implement appropriate repair methods per CarMax guidelines.
• Support auction activities as needed.
• Safely drive vehicles on and off the lot.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in all interactions.
• Complete any additional assignments from leadership as required.

Job Specifications:

• Attend and complete all training programs, both online and in-person, including KRONOS Training for Hourly Associates.
• Meet the competency requirements set for associates.
• Achieve performance standards necessary for Reconditioning Associate roles.
• Successfully complete all relevant workstation certifications.
• Accurately record and interpret data as needed.
• Handle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Lift up to 50 lbs as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with customers and associates, both face-to-face and on the phone.
• Receive training in all inventory processing functional areas for comprehensive understanding and coverage.

Working Conditions:

• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, occasionally under noisy or challenging weather conditions.
• Stand or walk for extended periods.
• Wear provided CarMax uniform while on duty.
• Adhere to all CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA regulations, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and waste disposal protocols.
• Follow all CarMax policies regarding attendance, asset protection, integrity, and professional appearance standards.

The hourly rate for this position is $21.51.

Benefits:

CarMax associates enjoy paid sick leave, vacation, and holiday time, with full-time hourly associates earning up to 48 hours of sick time per year and between 80 to 200 hours of vacation time based on years of service.

Additionally, they receive paid time off for 6 scheduled holidays and 1 floating holiday. For those who work on holidays, the opportunity for Holiday Premium Pay is available.
