We are hiring for a Technical Writer to join our team on a full-time, direct basis. This person will plan, write, and maintain all documentation pertaining to our various solutions: software applications, interfaces, electronic hardware, solution overviews, troubleshooting guides, technical deployment checklists, quick reference guides, Standard Operating Processes [SOPs], technical release communication templates, and other related documentation.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain documentation pertaining to all aspects of software applications, hardware applications, systems operations, system testing, and end user documentation.
- Work directly with internal & external stakeholders (i.e.: Product Owner, Business Analysts, Software Developers, System Administrators, technical and functional SMEs, business users, and end users) to gather and vet the information needed for required documentation sets.
- Translate verbal and written technical requirements into documentation for the appropriate audiences within set deadlines.
- Create product on-boarding, training, and end-customer guides / walkthroughs to aid in new customer adoption.
- Take over our current knowledge base platform while also making improvements, as needed
- Establish a documentation methodology and suggest improvements based on client/team feedback.
- Establish a coherent and professional-looking documentation style.
- Adhere to industry best practices & standards for Agile/Scrum Frameworks adopted by our organization; this includes (but is not limited to) daily stand-ups, grooming, planning, retrospectives, sprint reviews, demos, and analytics via systems (JIRA) administration to directly support initiatives set by Product Management and the company-at-large.
- Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.
Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree is a plus (we will consider additional experience in lieu of formal education).
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Writing, Training, and/or Business Analysis.
- Experience with MadCap platform web content management framework is required.
- Experience working with the development and distribution of technology products; experience working with technical systems that have Hardware & Software components is a plus!
- Exposure to (and/or appreciation for) Open-Source Software technology platforms.
- Experience with documenting web applications using web tools; experience using Swagger for APIs is a plus!
- Exposure to web development programming (e.g.: HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, PHP, etc.) is plus.
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and related processes; exposure to JIRA tools is a plus.
- Proven expertise with demonstrating professional skills such as a strong work ethic, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional and collaborative demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
