Job Description

Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a summer camp counselor to lead weekly theme-based camp activities for children ages 5 through 8. This temporary position begins early June and ends August 2025.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

• Leads summer camp activities for children ages 5 through 8


• Creates and manages an environment conducive to the learning and safety of children enrolled in the camp


• Supervises summer camp personnel


• Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

• Associate degree in child development, elementary education or a related field or two years of educational or related course work


• Two years of related work experience (four years of additional related work experience can be substituted for the educational requirement)


• Computer, organizational and human relations skills


• Valid CPR and first aid certifications


• Ability to effectively communicate with children, parents and staff


• Ability to participate in all camp activities including swimming and bicycling


• Ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds


• Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor's degree and Microsoft Office experience

 

Supplemental Information

This is a temporary position that does not include benefits. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm with a one hour lunch. The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.82 per hour but could reach $25.51 per hour depending on education and experience.
