Role Description – Student Pastor

The Student Pastor, who reports to the Executive Pastor of Next Gen and local evangelism, will be responsible for leading and overseeing the spiritual growth and development of students within the Brookwood Church community. As the leader of the Student Ministry, the Student Pastor is responsible for directly leading the weekly worship service for students and operates as the primary teacher using his/her operational, logistical, and communication skills to lead dynamic worship experiences. The Student Pastor is responsible for leading teams to plan, coordinate and execute special events, camps, mission trips and retreats; for the spiritual development of the students at Brookwood Church; and for recruiting, developing, and equipping adult and student leaders for the work of ministry.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with seminary preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth or student ministry
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Previous experience leading a team that includes staff and volunteers preferred

Responsibilities

Leadership – 25%

• Lead and Develop the Student Ministry Team (3-5 staff members)
  • Cast a compelling vision for student ministry and equip the Student Ministry Team to execute it.
  • Be vigilant creating a team culture that prioritizes unity and empowers the Student Ministry Team to flourish in their roles.
  • Organize and lead efficient weekly team meetings that cover week-to-week responsibilities and long-range planning of our calendar, events, values, and strategy.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with each direct report on the Student Ministry Team to hear how they are feeling in their role and to get an update on their discipleship relationships.
• Lead and Develop Adult and Student Leaders
  • Recruit both adults and students to fill roles on volunteer teams throughout the student ministry.
  • Provide regularly scheduled adult leader meetings that celebrate leaders and their impact and cultivate new skills in them.
• Partner with Parents to Equip Them as Spiritual Leaders and to Provide Support
• Partner with Security Team to Ensure Safety is a Priority.

Strategic Planning - 25%

• Oversee Development and Implementation of Strategies for Discipleship, Evangelism and Missions

• Personally participate in disciple-making through a Community Group and lead Student Ministry Team to do likewise.
• Lead Student Ministry Team in meetings to grow staff culture.
• Create simple on-ramps for students and adults to be matched up in groups.
• Collaborate with other ministry leaders to integrate students into the larger church community.
• Provide annual opportunities for students to go serve on mission trips and equip groups to go serve in their community once a semester.

Weekly Services, Groups, and Special Events–50%

• Lead Weekly Worship Service for Students

• Create semester by semester preaching calendar that ensures a robust look at Scripture and relevant topics for students.
• Collaborate with the Student Worship Pastor to create high-energy worship experiences that allow students to encounter Jesus.
• Collaborate with the Student Worship Pastor to recruit and train students to be a part of the student ministry worship team.
• Equip discussion group leaders with the skills and information they need to effectively lead groups as part of the midweek worship service for students.

• Oversee Execution of Other Weekly Gatherings
  • Oversee and support Student Ministry Team in organizing and executing weekly groups for students.
  • Oversee and support the Student Ministry Team in organizing and executing weekly campus ministries that exist to mobilize our students in sharing the Gospel
• Lead Student Ministry Team to Plan, Coordinate, and Execute Special Events (Examples: Camps, Retreats, Mission Trips, Special Events, Etc.)
  • Create regularly scheduled opportunities for the Student Ministry Team to plan special events.
  • Collaborate with the Ministries Assistant to develop a project plan with timelines, submit requests for communication needs, develop and coordinate registration system for each event, and oversee all logistical coordination, preparation, and execution including travel and lodging
  • Organize and lead the Student Ministry Team in recruitment efforts of adult volunteers to come serve and of students to attend the event.
