Description
We're looking for someone who will be responsible for accurately translating medical documents, reports, and communications from Spanish to English and vice versa. The role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, cultural sensitivity, and attention to detail to ensure clear and accurate translations. This job is remotely, and is a year long contract position with strong possibility of extension!
Key Responsibilities
- Translates complex documents (medical records, work history reports, etc.) from Spanish to English with minimal consultation.
- Delivers clear, accurate, and idiomatic translations.
- Maintains translation and telephone logs.
- Interprets conference calls between non-English speakers and Claims Adjudicators.
- Collects and documents information from claimants and medical sources.
- Addresses technical program inquiries, clarifies needs, and resolves issues independently.
- Refers claimants to appropriate resources and handles sensitive information confidentially.
- Compiles and maintains glossaries of medical and regional terminology.
- Researches and provides technical assistance on specialized terminology. May review glossaries.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Be fluent in both English and the target language.
- State Certified a plus
- Have strong verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Be familiar with note taking and memory techniques.
- Professional and courteous behavior
- Be accustomed with the consecutive interpretation process.
- Strong ability and passion for interpretation and customer service
- Knowledge of the interpreter Code of Ethics
- At least 2 years of medical interpreting experience
