JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level. 

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms Engineering team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience. 
  • Proficient knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a given technical discipline (e.g., Cloud, artificial intelligence, Android, etc.)
  • Experience in observability such as white and black box monitoring, service level objective alerting, and telemetry collection using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, and others
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Terraform and amiliarity with container and container orchestration such as ECS, Kubernetes, and Docker
  • Ability to proactively recognize road blocks and demonstrates interest in learning technology that facilitates innovation
  • Ability to identify new technologies and relevant solutions to ensure design constraints are met by the software team
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java/Spring Boot, and .Net; 5+ years applied experience in Python/Java
  • Having hands-on experience on UI technologies like Angular, JavaScript, React JS would be an added advantage
  • A deep understanding of the private cloud platforms, Compute/Network/Storage Infrastructure knowledge is required
  • Experience with Telemetry, Service Level Indicators, Service Level Objectives, and Error Budgets 
  • Experience with automation and toil reduction
  • Experience with resilient infrastructure and/or application design
  • Ability to contribute to large and collaborative teams by presenting information in a logical and timely manner with compelling language and limited supervision
