Summary of Position

Banner Quality Management, Inc. is seeking an experienced, full-time Senior Web Designer to conceptualize workflows, direct look-and-feel, and provide quality experiences for web application users. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded Senior Web Designer with a mastery of best practices, and design patterns, which inform clear design solutions that best represent our stakeholders’ requirements. Our team supports the NASA Safety Center, (NSC) and this is a high-visibility opportunity throughout NASA.

The mission of the NSC is to provide Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) training and development expertise, information, verification and analysis to enable collaboration and learning while promoting a safe workplace and successful programs and projects. The NSC’s vision is to be NASA’s preeminent resource for subject matter expertise, data and tools.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with requirements team to translate business requirements into new user-facing application features.
  • Create low-fidelity designs/wireframes to represent high-level objectives/ideas clearly
  • Prototype design solutions to ensure a clear representation of the interaction design
  • Conduct research to uncover user pain points, needs, and opportunities for improvement
  • Align with stakeholders to understand business processes and user needs
  • Refine design solutions
  • Test the proposed designs to ensure the viability of the proposed solution(s)
  • Hand off design assets and support the development efforts
  • Build reusable code and libraries for use across multiple platforms
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UX/UI designs.
  • Coordinating and communicating effectively along a broad spectrum from executive management to support staff

· Review designs for AA WCAG Accessibility compliance

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in design tools (Figma preferred)
  • A strong portfolio of professional UX/UI design work that highlights outstanding design skills, systems thinking, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS and SASS.
  • Fluency in best practices for information architecture and design
  • Journey mapping and user empathy techniques, able to consider a diverse range of user needs
  • Experience in responsive-design frameworks such as Telerik Kendo UI, Bootstrap is desired.
  • Understanding of code versioning tools (e.g.Git, and TFS) is desired
  • Knowledge of Visual Studio is desired
  • Knowledge of 508 Compliance is desired
  • Any experience with Microsoft Power Apps development is a plus

Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree, preferably within UX/UI design, and 5-10 years of related work experience

Personality or self-management skills:

  • Strong communication, presentation, and storytelling skills
  • Experience collaborating with multiple cross-functional partners
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, iterative environment where multi-tasking and time-management skills are critical
  • Thrive under pressure and enjoy working in an environment with competing priorities
  • Experience supporting developers in the implementation of design deliverables

· Ability to perform work within specific timeframes and adhere to deadlines

· Willingness to keep skills current and quickly adapt to new technologies, as needed.
