ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS LIVIC Civil is looking to fill a full-time Senior Traffic Engineer position for our growing transportation department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working on state, municipal and private projects, be a team player, and be enthusiastic in working with other engineers, project managers, and other technical staff. In this position you will be assisting with planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects, such as traffic signal design, traffic impact studies, intersection design, roadway design, and preparation of highway occupancy permit applications.
Essential job functions include:
- Coordinate and perform the planning and permitting of traffic/transportation engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects;
- Conduct traffic analysis for traffic impact studies;
- Oversee field staff collecting traffic volume, road, and regulatory data;
- Conduct preliminary traffic reviews at the project concept stage to identify critical traffic-related issues;
- Apply knowledge and techniques of engineering and advanced mathematics;
- Write and/or review draft reports including traffic impact studies and parking studies;
- Use engineering equipment and design software (SYNCHRO, HCS, etc.) to prepare engineering and design documents with proficiency;
- Prepare draft proposals and review draft invoices and project budgets in collaboration with team members;
- Lead tasks associated with the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, cost estimates, and designs for projects;
- Supervise or coordinate the work of staff engineers, interns, and others who assist in specific assignments as needed;
- Coordinate and perform field inspection services, as needed; and
- Perform other duties as requested.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS - Degree in Civil Engineering or 10+ years of experience in similar role
- Professional Engineer License (Pennsylvania Preferred)
- Proficiency in Bentley Microstation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Work and Excel.
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable.
- Familiarity of PennDot methods and procedures, policies, and standards
- Ability to coach and assist with the management of staff; ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects and to develop and manage project budgets
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 5 or more years of experience in traffic design, traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrants, parking studies, driveway & roadway design, and traffic signal design
- Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and the MUTCD is required; Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation are a plus;
