Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr MGI International, LLC is a leading global plastic resin distributor formed in 2019 and a majority interest in the company is owned by ITOCHU International, Inc, the U.S. flagship operation of the ITOCHU Group. MGI International has sales in over 70 countries with a focus on both commodity (PE, PP, PS) and engineered (ABS, PC, POM, etc.) materials in addition to sustainable solutions including plant-based bio resins and recycled and repurposed materials. MGI is looking for a Senior Manager of Import and Exports that will be responsible for overseeing purchasing functions and supplier relationships across multiple accounts and external freight forwarders and customs brokers to facilitate import/export processes. This role will also manage the import/export operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, and optimizing the efficiency of the process. The Senior Manager should have solid knowledge of import/export regulations, with a focus on U.S. Customs procedures. Manager Responsibilities: Purchasing Dept (import/domestic) Duties/Responsibilities: Manage the end-to-end import/export process, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant shipments. Oversee and ensure compliance with all U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations for import/export activities. Responsibilities include leading and working with internal and external parties to manage daily drawback documentation and submissions in support of claim refunds, coordinating with appropriate freight forwarders, warehouses, and duty drawback broker on documentation including AES, and overseeing U.S. Customs ACE portal and creating ad-hoc reporting as needed. Monitor, record, analyze and report on activities, trends, results and regulations in order to maintain compliance and mitigate potential risks while recommending potential duty drawback and import entry reconciliation. Review exception reporting and audit entry summaries for accuracy including HTS and all other data points. Handle any issues or disputes with U.S. Customs or regulatory agencies and resolve them in a timely manner. Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs within the import/export supply chain. Manage the import and purchasing team and its daily operational tasks. Collaborate with all other departments in the Operations Division to ensure internal processes are developed and in compliance. Conduct regular audits of import/export operations to ensure compliance and maintain internal controls. Support CAO and CFO on internal customs audits and compliance risk assessments. Provide training and guidance to supporting purchasing managers, staff and team members on customs regulations, compliance practices, and logistics procedures. Required Skills/Abilities: Proven experience working as a licensed customs broker, U.S. Customs officer, or other relevant position (strongly preferred). In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import/export laws, tariffs, duties, and international trade compliance (strongly preferred). Familiarity with the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS), Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), country of origin determinations, and customs entry processes (strongly preferred). Strong understanding of international trade agreements and customs documentation requirements. Customs Brokers License (preferred). Prior experience working with international vendors and cross-border shipping companies (preferred). Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred). Education/Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in international logistics, import/export, or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
