SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors. The IPS School Police Department plays a vital role in maintaining school safety by providing rapid and effective emergency response, monitoring security systems, and coordinating communication between officers and school personnel.
IPS is looking for dedicated, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as
School Police Dispatchers. This role requires
strong multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. We provide opportunities for

ROLE(S) - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - REQUIREMENTS School Police Dispatcher Summary: School Police Dispatchers serve as the central communication hub for the IPS School Police Department. They handle emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate officer response, monitor security systems, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities: • Answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Dispatch IPS police officers and coordinate response efforts.
• Monitor school security systems, including alarms and surveillance cameras.
• Maintain accurate and detailed communication logs and records.
• Utilize multi-line phone systems and two-way radios for communication.
• Provide clear and concise information to officers, school staff, and emergency responders.
• Assist with administrative tasks and data entry as needed.
Requirements: • High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in dispatch, emergency communication, customer service, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to
remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations. • Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Familiarity with
multi-line phone systems, computer databases, and dispatch software is a plus.
• Must be able to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

arrival at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy for the Basic Law Enforcement Course. Must

officers when such are adopted.
