Job Description

About Pair Team

Pair Team is a public benefit company reimagining care for the safety net. As an AI-enabled medical group for Medicaid and Medicare, we deliver medical, behavioral, and social care by integrating shelters, pantries and other community-based organizations into our whole-person model. As California’s largest complex care provider, we’ve proven our impact to reduce avoidable emergency care, including a 52% and 26% reduction in ER visits and hospitalizations respectively. Once scaled nationally, our approach would save tax payers $150B per year.

With our years of experience and vast data collected, we are now building an AI platform that embeds social work agents across the safety net to truly unify our fragmented healthcare and welfare system. By scaling our country’s frontline medical and social services workforce, we aim to bring high-touch care to everyone.

At Pair Team, we’re not just delivering care—we’re transforming it. We’re building a future where high-touch, community-driven care is accessible to everyone, especially the most underserved.

About the Opportunity

As our first financial leader, you’ll help guide the organization through its next stage of scale and complexity. This role will play a critical part in elevating the Finance function from a tactical function to a strategic driver of the business—bringing financial rigor, leadership, and insight into a dynamic digital health environment. The ideal leader will help build the foundation for a world-class finance organization that can support the company’s ambitious trajectory.

As a VP of Finance you’ll report to the Chief Operating Officer.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee financial performance across multiple business lines, building scalable, data-driven models to forecast revenue, manage margins, measure ROI of new initiatives, and optimize capital allocation.
  • Serve as a key thought partner to the executive team on financial strategy, growth planning, and risk management.
  • Lead financial management of value-based care contracts, including forecasting capitation and shared-savings revenue, modeling risk-adjusted performance, managing cash flow and reserves across payor settlements, and aligning care delivery costs with quality and utilization outcomes.
  • Oversee all accounting, audit, and tax functions, ensuring GAAP compliance, timely monthly closes, and effective collaboration with external advisors to optimize entity structure, filings, and audit readiness.
  • Build and scale a high-performing finance organization by recruiting and mentoring a best-in-class team.
  • Establish internal controls, policies, and systems to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
  • Build scalable systems for revenue recognition, claims, billing, accounts receivable/payable, and cash flow management.
  • Manage insurance, risk, and financial compliance related to healthcare regulations and value-based care contracts.
  • Lead fundraising and investor relations, including managing financial due diligence, supporting capital raise processes, preparing board and investor materials, and communicating company performance, forecasts, and strategic plans to current and prospective investors.
  • Support the executive team with cap table management.

What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years experience in FP&A, strategic finance, and accounting, with at least 3 years of experience in digital health
  • 5+ years of leadership experience building and scaling high-performing finance teams and overseeing strategic financial operations
  • Strong understanding of corporate practice of medicine (CPOM) compliance and MSO–PC structuring
  • Experience working with accounting and ERP tools
  • Strong ability to translate financial insights into operational levers and strategic decisions across functions
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup environment with cross-functional collaboration and proven ability to instill financial discipline in a rapidly scaling environment
  • Strong judgment and business acumen with an ability to balance financial risk and strategic opportunity
  • Ability to communicate financial strategy and insights clearly to executive teams, boards, and investors
  • A passion for healthcare access and a commitment to serving underserved populations
  • Experience with data visualization tools, i.e. Looker, Tableau, and working closely with operational stakeholders are both strongly preferred
  • Deep experience supporting value-based care payment models is a plus!

Because We Value You

  • Competitive salary: $225,000 – 250,000
  • Equity compensation package
  • Flexible vacation policy – take the time you need to recharge
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • 100% company-sponsored short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • Subsidized backup childcare and caregiver supports through Wellthy
  • Work entirely from the comfort of your own home
  • Monthly $100 work from home expense stipend
  • We provide the equipment needed for the role
  • Opportunity for rapid career progression with plenty of room for personal growth!
  • Travel reimbursements for any company retreats or leadership offsites
