Job Description

Physician Billing Coordinator

The Physician Billing Coordinator position is responsible for editing/billing physician and clinic claims to payers for charges incurred at FirstHealth clinics, following up with payers regarding non-payment, denial and/or underpayment, ensuring that billing is compliant and accurate, managing clinic accounts receivables to ensure that we bill within payer timely-filing limits and adding documentation to accounts to reflect communication with payers.

Responsibilities
  1. Submit and edit clinic and physician claims accurately.
  2. Follow up on denials, underpayments, and unpaid claims.
  3. Ensure billing compliance with payer guidelines.
  4. Manage accounts receivable and meet timely filing deadlines.
  5. Document payer communications in account records.
Qualifications

Education: High school graduate. Technical College or certification preferred. Five years medical billing experience is preferred (not required).

Additional skills: Experience with practice management systems; office automation skills; extensive knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding and insurance reimbursement; strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; good organizational skills. Has extensive experience communicating with patients regarding collection of patient balances and explaining balance details.
