Job Description

The Sharon Police Department is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join our team as part-time Police Dispatchers. The anticipated opening would be on Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. In this critical support role, you will be responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units, and coordinating communication between field units and other emergency services. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Answer and prioritize emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service.

• Dispatch police units promptly and efficiently.

• Monitor radio traffic and maintain communication with field personnel.

• Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, databases, and other communication equipment.

• Accurately document calls, officer activity, and other relevant information.

• Maintain composure and professionalism in high-stress situations.

• Provide information and assistance to the public as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Prior experience in emergency dispatching, public safety communications, or related field preferred.

• Strong multitasking, communication, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment screening.

 

Preferred Qualifications and Certificates:

• E911 Next-Generation, APCO PST-1

• Familiarity with CAD (IMC Preferred) NCIC and CJIS systems.

Compensation:
$26.21 per hour. Rate currently in negotiations.
