Job Description

Part-Time Accountant - St. Perpetua Parish
4-8 hours per week

St. Perpetua Parish is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee the parish's financial operations. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting parish leadership, and ensuring adherence to internal controls and the Archdiocese of Detroit's financial policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the Intacct accounting system and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and prepare reports for departments and the Parish Finance Council.
  • Prepare the annual budget and financial reports for submission to the Archdiocese.
  • Review invoices, bills, and check requests; prepare and issue checks accordingly.
  • Record and accurately classify all parish income.
  • Manage the parish bi-weekly payroll process, ensuring journals are properly recorded in Intacct; oversee year-end payroll tasks, including issuing 1099s.
  • Assist the Pastor with business-related matters as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Commitment to supporting the mission of St. Perpetua Parish and the Catholic Church.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of two years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage tasks independently.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all financial matters.
