GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
To operate a spray painter, apply industrial paint finishes to parts, sub-assemblies, partial or completed shelters, and trailers to achieve the quality and integrity of products at the lowest possible cost.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
\n - Receives instructions verbally or from layouts of detailed prints.
\n - Receives parts, sub-assemblies, and partial or completed units at work station.
\n - May prepare the unit for painting by performing various tasks, including washing/rinsing, drying, removing the masking, additional masking, tacking, sanding, and cleaning.
\n - Performs checks to ensure units, parts, and assemblies are properly prepared before painting.
\n - May involve material handling (i.e., moving units in the paint area and in and out of spray booths; placing parts on racks for painting and drying).
\n - Selects and mixes paint to desired consistency, as well as J7 body filler and hardener.
\n - Checks the shelf life of paint before use.
\n - Cleans spray room, adjusts and cleans spray guns, pumps, and tanks as required.
\n - May perform various operations such as hand buffing, applying spot primer, vibrating spot weld marks, scratches excess sealer, and adhesive.
\n - Perform spray operation, holding and positioning spray gun as a primer and finish coats are required.
\n - Paint application, resulting in little or no rework.
\n - Sprays primer and finish coats to parts and sub-assemblies using all varieties of paints and paint finishes, including anti-skid finish and camouflage patterns.
\n - Exercises care to apply paint to specified thickness and avoid runs, especially when applying finish coats that must meet government standards.
\n - Responsible for meeting appropriate quality standards .
\n - May perform tests to ensure compliance.
\n - Uses various equipment and tools, which may include paint brushes, spray guns, pumps, vibrators, power sander, electric lift trucks, and other machines and equipment as needed.
\n - Demonstrate safe practice when using ladders and in the use of respiration devices.
\n - Maintains a clean and safe work area.
\n

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
\n - High school graduate or equivalent.
\n - Minimum 1-year related experience required.
\n - Problem-Solving

\n - No analytical ability is required; problem-solving skills are a regular job requirement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
\n - Shop Floor environment.
\n - Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
\n - Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).
\n - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
\n - Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e., machine motors).
\n - Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions.
\n - Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
