Job Description
CBS News Texas (CBS Owned and Operated Station) is looking for a motivated and skilled photojournalist with a strong dedication to visual storytelling and excellent photography and editing skills! The ideal candidate is a creative and multi-skilled journalist who is eager to collaborate and contribute original ideas to produce compelling visual stories.
The News Photographer will be accountable for maintaining assigned equipment, including news vehicles, cameras, lights, laptop editors and peripheral gear, initiating repairs when necessary. Must be physically able to carry, shoulder and shoot with a broadcast ENG camera (25 lbs. or more), as well as carry support equipment (tripod, lights, microphones, etc.). The News Photographer is also able to respond to breaking news stories when the situation warrants.
Basic qualifications: - 3+ years of experience in a medium to large television market
- Non-linear editing experience and knowledge of file-based video transfer
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record
- Must be able to carry, shoulder, and shoot with camera equipment weighing 25+ lbs
Additional qualifications: - Ability to operate live bonded cellular transmit units (Dejero, LiveU, etc.)
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Strong writing, editing, and social media skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Enjoys contributing and collaborating in a team environment
- Stays up-to-date on technical advances and takes a creative approach to use of technology
- Knowledge of graphic design is a plus
- Drone operator license (FAA Part 107) is a plus
- Spanish language fluency is a plus

Hiring Salary Range: $.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
