Job Title: Museum Curator

location : U.S. Navy Seabee Museum, 3201 N. Ventura Road, Port Hueneme, CA 93043

Job Type : Full-time

Hours of Operation : Normal working hours is Monday through Friday from 0745 to 1615.

Responsibilities :

• Be responsible for assisting with an inventory of the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum artifact collection and digitizing the collection.
• Inventory the collection. The inventory shall include unpacking storage boxes and making a list of items in that box. As the artifacts are removed,
• Photograph each artifact.
• Repack the items using industry commercial practices.
• Perform these technical duties as part of the museum’s broader initiative of collection digitization, utilizing their expert knowledge.
• Perform routine work and special assignments, including training on current and new techniques are identified.

Qualifications :

The Curator shall possess :

• Digital photography, Adobe Photoshop Elements and Acrobat Professional.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to deal effectively with internal Museum staff and Navy personnel, as well as Museum visitors of all ages and abilities.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
• Current Museum collection management standards and best practices including digital asset management.
• Physical ability for walking, climbing ladders, standing, bending, stooping or carrying of objects.
