The combined years of service of the staff of the Platte Lake Veterinary Clinic exceeds over 100 years of dedication to our clients, their pets, and our community. We’re proud to provide a wide variety of veterinary medical services for dogs, cats, birds and other exotic animals in Honor & surrounding areas!

Position Purpose:

Platte Lake Veterinary Clinic in Honor, Michigan is looking to partner with an entrepreneurial Managing Veterinarian looking for a practice to make their own .

 

Our growing and progressive full-service hospital has been committed to maintaining a high level of medicine and quality care for decades. And for the last 30 years, we have developed a long standing and excellent clientele who trust us to develop an educated healthcare plan for each of their pets.

 

Our practice serves as a great opportunity for doctors of all interests as we see a diverse range of medical and surgical cases. We are currently a predominantly small animal practice , but have the space and means to support exotic, mixed, and equine clientele if that is your interest .

 

Looking for urgent or emergency care? We can support that too! There is a high demand for it all in our surrounding area. Our devoted and skilled support staff (including 2 licensed veterinary technicians who are also certified in veterinary dentistry) strive to practice “fear free” patient handling to help reduce the stress of clinic visits for our clients and their pets.

 

Our veterinarians and support staff alike enjoy a balance between work and a casual lifestyle, working 4 days a week ( closed Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays ) and do not have any after hour emergencies or on-call! Associate and Part-Time roles are also available.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
