Job Overview

\n

Macy's Loaders/Unloaders perform all functions related to unloading and loading trailers which service our Macys and Bloomingdales stores.

\n

Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. Hours are dependent on business needs and colleague availability. Information regarding hours per week needed for benefit eligibility purposes can be found  here.

What You Will Do

\n

\n
• Loaders and Unloaders handle freight up to 75lbs. continuously during a specified shift
\n
• Responsible for physically loading and unloading and/ or sorting of packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing in a safe and efficient manner
\n
• Fast paced environment, where flexibility of departments is key and will need to work without close supervision
\n
• Adheres to company policies and procedures; follows department training guidelines, best practices, and operating procedures
\n
• Follows all Location Safety and Security Guidelines
\n
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
\n

Who You Are

\n

\n
• No Education or Experience Required
\n
• Ability to read and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
\n
• Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team
\n
• Must be proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology
\n
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
\n

\n

Essential Physical Requirements You Will Perform

\n

\n
• This position requires lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.\n
  \n
  • Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 75lbs., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
  \n
  • Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, and stooping
  \n
  • Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  \n
\n
• Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment
\n

Supply Chain Only and Colleagues Working in a Supply Chain Facility except in locations governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement:

\n

Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, depending upon factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party. Testing must be completed on the same workday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absent extenuating circumstances. In all circumstances, testing must be completed within 24 hours of notification.
