Legal Project Manager

A prestigious law firm located in Stamford, CT is actively seeking a dynamic and skilled Legal Project Manager to oversee and enhance the delivery of legal services across various departments. As a key part of our team, you will lead project management initiatives, ensuring that legal projects are executed efficiently and effectively while maintaining high-quality standards. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about using technology and innovative processes to improve service delivery and client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with client teams to manage engagements efficiently across the full matter lifecycle and explore opportunities to enhance service delivery through innovative solutions.
  • Serve as an expert on project planning, fee estimating, budget preparation, scope management, and compliance with outside counsel guidelines.
  • Provide on-demand consultancy services to client teams, focusing on the quality, delivery, and efficiency of legal services.
  • Ensure firm compliance with client outsourcing guidelines, particularly in areas of staffing, reporting, and billing as coordinated with the Finance team.
  • Champion the use and development of project management and knowledge management tools (e.g., Clocktimizer, viGlobal) to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the firm.
  • Develop and refine project management methodologies by collaborating with internal teams, clients, and external vendors.
  • Offer mentorship and training on project management and process improvement to colleagues throughout the firm.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging feedback and implementing best practices to enhance team performance and client satisfaction.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in project management within a legal, professional services, or consulting environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions that result in measurable improvements in efficiency, client satisfaction, and compliance.
  • Proficient in using project management tools and process improvement techniques.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups including clients, senior partners, and external vendors.
  • Advanced analytical skills with a keen understanding of metrics that drive successful project outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees such as an MBA or JD, or a professional qualification like a Paralegal Certificate.
  • Hands-on experience with high-profile client interactions within significant legal or business environments.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, HighQ, Smartsheet, or similar project management technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with change management methodologies, preferably Prosci.
  • Professional certification in project management or process improvement, such as PRINCE2 or PMP.
