Job Summary and Qualifications

This Lactation Consultant position requires advanced understanding and ability to utilize the nursing process. Provides expert care in lactation management according to the ILCA Standards of Practice for IBCLC Lactation Consultants. Serves as an expert consultant to maternal-child staff, physicians and other healthcare professionals in the management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems. Participates in program development activities. Practices according to the family-centered maternity care model.

What you will do in your role:

• You will demonstrate accountability for direct patient care, applies nursing process, You will prioritizes care and evaluates outcome caring for patients in the well-baby nursery
• You will participate and facilitates in the discharge planning process and cost containment
• You will document all aspects of patient care efficiently, accurately and per policy recommendations.
• You will participate in Performance Improvement activity

What qualifications you will need:

• IBCLC (International Board of Lactation Consultant) Certification required upon hire
• Two years of experience providing breastfeeding education required
• Continuing education in lactation and breastfeeding required
• RN license in the state of Texas
• BLS
