Job Summary
This position will have opportunities to travel regularly within their assigned territory and occasional travel throughout the state. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with fire service stakeholders conducting simple to complex fire origin and cause investigations. The candidate will also be expected to conduct these investigations according to current Minnesota statute relating to fire investigation. The job includes time on fire scenes conducting investigations, scene exams and witness interviews to days in a office environment writing and reviewing technical reports to move cases forward. It is the expectation of this position to become certified in either the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) as a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) or National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) - Certified Fire/Explosion Investigator (CFEI).
This position will have the opportunity to build relationships within the fire service and fire service stakeholders community. Collaborative work with Minnesota fire departments, fire chiefs and law enforcement officials. Daily tasks can be very different from day to day and add a variety to the normal "day in day out" type work.

Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50 pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
