About the Internship:

JEO is proud of the successful internship program we have developed and grown over the years. As a JEO Intern, you will support one of our technical or professional shared services departments. While interning at JEO, you will gain real-world, hands on experience. You’ll get to participate in one of our Intern Projects and drive a client project from start to finish, with a team of other interns. Other duties could include assisting in data collection and research, aiding in design, visiting job sites, reviewing and writing reports and attending client and public meetings.

Our Planning and Engagement department is seeking an intern to work at least 20 hours/week in our Omaha office. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in Visualizing Complex Information : Work under the guidance of project teams to organize and present information visually, helping create basic supporting graphics that enhance understanding and engagement.
  • Follow Brand Standards : Support the application of established client brand and style guides, ensuring consistency and quality across project materials.
  • Support Infographic and Visual Content Creation : Assist in transforming content and data into basic visual communications, including infographics, simple illustrations, and map-based graphics.
  • Assist in Multimedia Content Creation : Help in producing multimedia content, such as 2D animations, video editing, and social media graphics, aligned with client-style standards.
  • Develop Design Skills and Deliver Quality Work : Work on assigned tasks while improving design skills, ensuring timely and high-quality output under the supervision of senior team members.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program in graphic design, information design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Basic understanding of design principles and desktop publishing.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and apply new design skills and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with video editing and motion graphics software, such as Premiere Pro and/or AfterEffects.
  • Interest or experience in website development or content management systems (CMS).
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS.
  • General knowledge about infrastructure and civil engineering is beneficial, but not required.
