Personal Income Tax Preparer Purpose and Duties
Job Purpose:
To prepare Federal and State Individual Income Tax Returns in the presence of firm clients or via delivered information from the clients for the purpose of electronically filing the returns. To document and scan pertinent information and to explain the results to the client for the 2024 Tax Filing Season starting in January 2025.
Required Work Experience:
* 3 to 5 years tax preparation experience
* Enrolled Agent or CPA preferred
Duties:
* To arrive timely with a positive helpful attitude.
* Prepare federal, state, local tax income tax returns using Drake software by assembling and analyzing financial information that has been provided by the client either via a delivery service or during a live interview.
* Discuss the resulting taxes payable or refund directly with the taxpayer/client.
* Obtain client authorization to electronically file the return on their behalf with the appropriate taxing authorities.
* Maintain compliance with tax regulations by researching current regulations; referring difficult interpretations to supervisor.
* Keep all client and company information confidential.
* Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Contributes to tax team results by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to add value to the organization; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.
