We are hiring a Senior HR Generalist to support several related companies in real estate, construction/development, commercial/retail, aviation, cannabis (financials only), and congregate living. You will be the go to partner for both HR operations and payroll.
What you will own
Payroll: 40–50 percent of your week
Run full cycle payroll for multiple entities using ADP Workforce Now
Process bi weekly and semi monthly pay cycles
Handle commissions, bonuses, retro pay, garnishments, and adjustments
Audit timecards, deductions, and taxes before submission
Reconcile payroll data and build clean reports in Excel using pivot tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, and advanced formulas
HR generalist and benefits
Administer health, dental, vision, and 401k plans, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and invoice reconciliation
Lead onboarding and new hire orientation so people start informed and supported
Support managers with performance discussions, corrective actions, and terminations
Answer day to day HR questions with a balance of policy, clarity, and empathy
Leaves, compliance, and employee relations
Manage LOA, ADA, FMLA, CFRA and related California leave programs from intake through return to work
Partner with managers on employee relations issues and investigations and document findings
Keep the organization compliant with California employment laws, including wage and hour, EEO, and safety
Maintain accurate, audit ready HRIS and personnel records across entities
Partnership and projects
Work directly with executives and department leaders across all business lines
Create payroll and HR reports, metrics, and dashboards for leadership using Excel
Help refine processes, improve data integrity, and streamline how HR and payroll run
What you bring
Required
5 to 10 plus years as an HR Generalist / HRBP / HR and Payroll hybrid
Recent, hands on full cycle payroll for 2 to 3 or more entities
Proven experience using ADP Workforce Now for payroll
Experience with bi weekly and semi monthly payrolls
Comfort handling commissions, retro pay, garnishments, and payroll audits
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, and complex formulas such as IF, SUMIF, and INDEX/MATCH
Strong working knowledge of California employment law, including LOA/ADA/FMLA/CFRA and wage and hour
Hands on experience with benefits administration, leaves, onboarding, employee relations, and investigations
Preferred
Background in construction, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, manufacturing, or real estate/property management
Exposure to multiple payroll systems; GreenLeaf is a plus
