Qualifications:
- Preferences: (in order of preference).
- Early Childhood Education (Master Degree)
- Early Childhood Education (Bachelordegree)
- Early Childhood Education (Associate Degree)
- Must be able to handle confidential information.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test.
- Must be familiar with community resources.
- Be able to lift 40 pounds,stoopand bend to speak with children at their level.Be patient and caring.
- Must be insurable under the agencys insurance policy.
- Must provide theagency with a copy of his/her personal vehicle insurance verification.
- Mustgive Ross County CAC permission to obtain Motor Vehicle Record.
- 15 hours related training per year up to 45 hours or a CDA.
- Signed physical exam including a TB test by the first day of employment (on specified form).
- Required to give permission to obtain a copy of any arrest or conviction record through the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and FBI.
Job Description:
- Develop and post daily lessonplanfor the center, implement daily schedulesand plans for the day. Will include the Teacher assistant /bus driver, parents, and children in the preparation of daily plans.
- Supervisethe safety of all children in the center.
- Personally report any suspected child abuse or neglect to Childrens Services after reporting inform supervisor and complete internal paperwork.
- Usediscretion with other professionals in keeping childrens information confidential.
- Maintain inventory ofequipment and supplies for the center and requesting theaforementioned whenneeded
- Readandassistin writing the education plan.
- Support emerging literacy and numeric development
- Interact positively with children to promote many developmental skills.
- Conducttwo (2) parent- teacher conferences a yearand record inChildPlus.
- Conduct two (2)Educational Home Visits yearly lasting 1 to 1 hrsper visit;provideeducational plan to document each visit and record inChildPlus.
- Screeneach child within 45 days of enrollment, using thecurrentassessment tool.
- Assess each child using the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment 3 times per yearmaintainingrecords and updating as needed.Implement the I.E.P. goals asdeterminedby the I.E.P. Team.
- Assistin organization of transition to kindergarten activities, including completion of individual child kindergarten profile.
- Maintain, along with other staff, the center in a clean and orderly manner.
- Work cooperatively with all Head Start Staff andmaintaina positive attitude.
- Possessa thorough knowledge ofcenterrules, and actas a role model for the teacher assistant/bus drivers, and parent volunteers.
- Keep a daily attendance log keeping in mind that at least 85% attendance shall bekept at all times. Each absence will be documented specifically as toreasonfor the absence.Assistin contactingparents of child who misses 3 days of school.
- Conduct daily checks ofchildrenin accordance withODJFSRegulationsto ensure children are free from communicable diseases. A communicable disease isdeterminedwith theassistanceof the Center Manager and/or Health Manager.
- Distribute information to families, keeping communication open at all times.
- Organize and plan activities to encourage and involve parents in becoming effective participants in the educational process
- Assistin ensuring completion of physical and dental, and completion of follow-up treatment.
- Alert theChild &FamilyAdvocateof social service needs of families.
- Be the bus monitor for the Bus Driver when needed (unless a suitable volunteer is found).
- Assistwith recruitment and enrollment process for Head Start.
- Assistwith the implementation of food service as required by CACFP, head Start Performance Standards and local health regulations.Duties include, but are not limited to, serving meals, maintaining accurate attendance and meal counts, monitoring special diets, and obtaining CACFP Enrollment Forms.
- Performall job duties to ensureprogramwill remain in compliance with all Federal and State Performance Standards, Department of Education Rules and Regulations and Dept. of Job & Family Services Regulations.
- At the discretion of theEducation Manager/ Early Childhood ProgramsDirector, the teacher shall attend meetings, seminars,trainings,and conferences and shall share that information with other staff.
