Fleet Manager Job Description
· Coach Dispatch team to company and department goals
· Talking to drivers daily/check in’s
· Walking the drivers through any issues they may have
o Breakdowns
o Accidents
o Customer issues
· Developing efficient driver schedules to maximize profits.
o Ensuring all drivers make our quarterly goal
o Ensuring Dead Head is at the company goal standards
o Booking second loads daily for drivers
· Inputting accurate load information is sent to Billing
o Ensuring on Friday that all loads are ready to be sent to billing
o Ensuring payroll gets all necessary report
§ Driver assistance pay
§ Driver breakdown pay
· Managing drivers so they adhere to strict schedules.
o Manage driver PC time
o Ensure on-time deliveries
o Review Hours of service periodically through out the week to ensure drivers have the time to deliver loads
· Finding ways to cut costs and maximize profits.
o Work with Operations Manager to analyze profits and work on cutting cost
· Developing strategies for greater fuel efficiency.
· Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
· Complying with U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations.
o Ensure drivers are adhering to DOT driver log policies
· Monitoring driver behavior and ensuring a high level of customer service.
o Provide drivers with positive reinforcement for drivers
o Find ways to encourage drivers to do the job well
o Conduct progressive discipline for drivers breaking company policies
· Analyzing data to increase business operational efficiency.
· Utilizing GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles for safety purposes.
· Complete driver Reimbursements
· Complete reports on duties completed as a Fleet Manager
· Customer Relationship
o Maintain communication with customers daily
o Utilize PGTs network
