Embedded Firmware Engineer, Sarasota / Bradenton, Florida

Overview:

Hire Talent is recruiting on behalf of a traffic controls developer and distributor in Sarasota, Florida, seeking a Firmware Engineer to join its Hardware Engineering team.

This role involves testing, developing, and sustaining existing and future products. The Firmware Engineering Department is a multidisciplinary team of Hardware and Firmware Engineers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Software, Electrical Engineering or similar
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience through internships, projects and professional roles

Key Skills & Responsibilities:

• Proficiency in embedded C for microprocessors
• Ability to read and interpret schematics
• Experience using engineering equipment, including oscilloscopes and power supplies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Low-power coding
• SPI, I2C
• Ethernet
• USB
• Memory devices
• Real-time operating systems

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with intersection control products (NEMA, ATC, or CALTRANS)
• Knowledge of roadside data collection devices for traffic monitoring and classification
• Experience with VHDL for CPLD and FPGA devices
• Project management skills
• Ability to troubleshoot designs down to the component level
• Experience developing Windows-based applications in C#
• Experience developing firmware and drivers for Linux-based operating systems
