We are growing and looking for an Estimator to join our team for HVAC Commercial work for Plan/Spec and Design/Build who will be responsible for accurately assessing and calculating the cost of commercial HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and site conditions, determining necessary materials and labor, and preparing detailed cost estimates for potential clients, ensuring profitability and project feasibility while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma required preferred but not required Associate's degree or Construction Management Degree
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction projects
Fimiliar with types of Estimating software - such as ServiceTitan, PlanSwift, QuoteSoft, ArcSite, FastDUCT, and ServiceTrade, which all offer features like detailed takeoff capabilities, equipment selection, pricing models, and report generation specifically designed for commercial estimating needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Site Visits and Project Analysis:
Conduct on-site inspections of commercial properties to evaluate existing HVAC systems, identify project needs, and gather necessary measurements and data for accurate estimating.
• Blueprint Review:
Thoroughly analyze architectural and engineering blueprints to understand project scope, system layouts, and equipment requirements.
• Cost Estimation:
Develop detailed cost breakdowns including materials (units, ductwork, controls), labor (installation, service, maintenance), and potential contingencies, considering factors like project complexity, access limitations, and local regulations.
• Proposal Preparation:
RFP, RFQ preparation for bidding opportunities
Create comprehensive proposals outlining project scope, proposed equipment, estimated costs, project timeline, and payment terms for client review and presentation.
• Vendor Management:
Source and negotiate pricing with HVAC equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and material vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Customer Interaction:
Meet with potential clients to discuss project needs, answer questions, present estimates, and address concerns.
• Software Proficiency:
Utilize estimating software to generate accurate calculations, create detailed reports, and manage project data.
• Compliance:
Adhere to industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations in all project estimations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including design principles, equipment selection, installation procedures, and maintenance practices.
• Estimating Skills:
Proven ability to accurately calculate project costs, considering labor rates, material pricing, and potential contingencies.
• Blueprint Reading:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and mechanical blueprints to understand project requirements.
• Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively present proposals, explain technical details to clients, and collaborate with internal teams.
• Computer Literacy:
Familiarity with estimating software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Sales Acumen:
Ability to identify customer needs, build rapport, and negotiate project terms to secure contracts.
