Job Summary

Assist Unit Director with management and coordination of patient care and staff development

Provides direct care to patients on assigned unit using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation

Functions and performs all technical aspects of nursing care within the framework of established policies and procedures of PRMC

Responsible for managing care of assigned patients and guiding and directing the activities of ancillary staff

May function as a charge nurse

Functions on the nursing unit as assistant to the physician

Qualifications
Education

ADN degree or higher in nursing required. BSN, preferred.
Licenses/Certification

Current State license or Compact State License (if lives outside of TX) required.

BLS - required upon hire and continuously thereafter.

ACLS - required within 3 months of hire and continuously thereafter. PALS - required within 3 months of hire and continuously thereafter. Handle with Care - required within 6 months of hire and annually thereafter.

TNCC - required within 12 months of hire and annually thereafter.

Certified Professional of Patient Safety - preferred. CEN Certification - preferred.

Experience

2-4 years emergency nursing experience preferred

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to conduct self in a courteous and professional manner

Ability to guide and direct activities and staff to provide optimal patient care

Utilizes the nursing process as a framework for patient care while recognizing the dignity and worth of each patient

Collaborates with other health care members to maintain a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
