PURPOSE: A Technician in the Plant Engineering department will assist in the development, testing and validation, documentation, training and hands-on implementation of projects for the Machine division of the Cleveland Operations. The projects are aimed at improving the safety and environment, quality, and profitability of the Machine Division.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Work as part of a team in a hands-on environment to implement new processes, equipment and improvements to the production facilities for the Cleveland Operations
  • Implement, improve and support EHS efforts to improve the working environment
  • Assure safe, high quality, cost effective and environmentally responsible manufacturing of Lincoln’s welding equipment
  • Handle small to medium sized capital projects and production support projects with some supervision Typical assignments may include, but are not limited to:
    • Assist with the implementation and creation of documentation for safe work practices
    • Provide assistance troubleshooting mechanical issues with production equipment
    • Assist in the management of project resources during construction projects
    • Investigation, installation, testing, and documentation of new components and technologies
    • Fabrication and installation guards, prototypes, enclosures, and pneumatic systems
    • Assist with the startup of shop floor equipment
    • Update documentation for mechanical systems
    • Additional assignments as assigned by the supervisor

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of five or more years of experience in related field OR
  • Vocational training and a minimum of three or more years of experience in related field OR
  • Two year technical degree/Associates Degree in related field
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot pneumatic diagrams
  • Capable of fabricating and installing components using power tools
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Demonstrate good judgment, be self-motivated and be safety conscious
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and changing priorities
  • Good computer skills (3D CAD experience a plus)
  • Good decision-making ability
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Able to perform hands-on work as required
  • Ability to occasionally work off shifts
  • Ability to be effective working extensively on the shop floor with employees, contractors and processes
