Globe Pequot is seeking an Editorial Assistant for their Essex, Connecticut office to provide editorial and administrative support to a team of acquiring editors. You must submit a resume and cover letter to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Preparing manuscript and cover transmittals for production, including assembling art, photography, maps, and permissions as well as consulting with the production department on editorial and manufacturing needs
• Drafting proposal memos for editorial board meetings.
• Processing contracts and preparing payment requests.
• Preparing and maintaining publishing list reports by imprint.
• Communicating with authors during the editorial and production process.
• Writing standard rejection letters.
• Forwarding incoming mail, emails, and reader queries to appropriate authors or editors.
• Other editorial and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BA or BS, preferably in English or Journalism.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Extreme attention to detail and strong editorial skills.
• Strong project management skills.
• Team-oriented, but also able to work independently and efficiently.
• Knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel) and Windows.
• A strong desire to learn all aspects of the publishing business.
