Community Advocate - Community & School Health Initiative

Northridge Hospital Medical Center

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Community Advocate to join our Listos / Mental Health Disaster Preparedness Education Program, which focuses on providing communities with the knowledge and tools to manage mental health challenges before, during, and after disasters. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative and logistical support to ensure the smooth delivery of educational services and resources. This position is grant-funded.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for the Mental Health Disaster Preparedness Education Program, including scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and managing correspondence.
  • Assist in coordinating and organizing disaster preparedness training sessions, workshops, and community outreach events.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date participant records, program files, and reports, ensuring compliance with grant and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage program communications, including drafting emails, newsletters, and social media updates, to inform participants and stakeholders of program activities and developments.
  • Support the preparation of grant reports and documentation, ensuring that all program data, expenses, and outcomes are accurately tracked and reported.
  • Assist in tracking and managing the program budget, including processing invoices, purchasing supplies, and monitoring expenditures.
  • Serve as the primary contact for program participants, community partners, and external stakeholders, providing excellent customer service and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Support program staff with data collection and evaluation efforts to assess the effectiveness of educational programs and disaster preparedness initiatives.
  • Coordinate logistics for training and outreach events, including booking venues, managing registration, and preparing materials.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the overall success of the program.

Qualifications
  • One year experience in healthcare or community based organization.
  • Experience working with community outreach or public health preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • BA in Public Health or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace products, Zoom and Canva Presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of local community agencies and resources.
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.
  • Valid CA driver's license required.
  • Car insurance required.
  • LA City Fire Safety card required. (obtain 90 days from start date)
