Job Description
The college co-op student will offer and develop subject-matter expertise related to public policy initiatives impacting the health insurance industry as a member of the Office of Public Policy team.
The Office of Public Policy is responsible for providing the organization with a thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory activity and the potential impact of those activities on the company.
College Co-op Job Description: In collaboration with the other members of the Public Policy team, the college student will provide support and insight on specific issue areas.
Responsibilities likely include but are not limited to the following :
•Researching and reviewing existing local, state, and federal statutes and regulations, proposed legislation and regulations, and other public policy documents, providing concise and actionable analysis of potential impact on the health insurance industry.
•Reviewing publicly available materials - summarizing key points and translating conclusions into clear and compelling policy analysis/documentation.
•Researching, writing and developing white papers and/or other deliverables on various public policy issues.
•Interacting with counterparts in Public Affairs, Marketing, Actuarial, Strategy, Legal and other Departments, as may be appropriate, to understand the impact of legislative and regulatory initiatives on market dynamics and business implications.
•Preparing presentations, infographics, policy materials and fact sheets on critical issues.
Required Skills: •Basic understanding of the policy development process, particularly within the healthcare industry.
•Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, with the capability to develop, prepare, and effectively communicate sophisticated analysis.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex issues and insights in a compelling manner.
•Positive, confident, results-oriented mindset.
•Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage workload to meet specific timeframes and deadlines.
•Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
Majors: •BA in:Public Policy, Political Science, Public Health
•MPH, MBA, JD preferred.
Classification: •Undergrad:Junior or Senior.
•1L or 2L if in law school.
•Graduate Student.
Minimum GPA: 3.0+
