Job Description
Vantage Point Solutions, a growing and dynamic telecommunications consulting and engineering firm, is seeking a qualified individual to join our team of professionals. We have an immediate opening for a Broadband Network Technician. Staff will be based out of our Birmingham, AL office, however, position requires a high degree of travel.
Responsibilities
Typical duties for this position include:
· Fiber testing including OTDR and loss measurement
· Installation of data center infrastructure such as racks, data bays, cable racks, fiber duct, and AC and DC power distribution components
· Installation of broadband electronics including transport, access, routing, and switching equipment
· Commissioning of electronics including transport, access, routing, switching, and ancillary equipment
Candidates should be self-motivated, resourceful, professional, and exhibit good judgement.
Competencies
· Attention to detail (ie, proofreading, data, communications, etc.)
· Ability to communicate confidently with both clients and team members
· Strong written communication across multiple platforms (ie, email, reports, etc.)
· IT troubleshooting skills
· Strong knowledge of fiber optic cabling
· Knowledge of DC power systems
· Fluent in central office and data center grounding requirements
· Proficiency in common Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
Education & Experience
An associate or bachelor's degree in broadband communications, or equivalent industry experience
Supervisory Responsibility
No direct supervisory duties.
