Compensation & Benefits Hiring hourly rate of pay: $19.81 (hourly rate set by SCA) Benefits: The company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and 401k retirement plan. Employees will accrue one (1) hour of sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked up to fifty-six (56) hours per year and may be eligible for vacation and paid time off benefits. Note: This position is regulated by the Department of Labor (DOL) as a Service Contract Act (SCA) contract. The DOL regulates the minimum hourly rate of pay, holiday and vacation leave benefits, and Health and Welfare (H&W) money. Job Description As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will be responsible for supporting the mission of a government program located in Reno, NV. This position works as part of a dynamic team of professionals assisting the United States Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS) Application Support Center (ASC) operations. Amentum provides all required job training for qualified candidates. This position is an on-call (casual) team member. On-Call (casual) employees are expected to be available five days a week, Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 4:15pm for substitute coverage as needed at the site. This is not a regular full-time or regular part-time position; it is a casual on-call position. Efforts are made to notify On-Call personnel in advance of site on-call needs; however, notification may occur the night before or day of. Candidates must meet this availability. Hours are not guaranteed and employees are on an “as needed” basis. The On-Call position is suitable for candidates seeking supplemental income and who want to work in a active environment without a committed schedule. Primary Responsibilities Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States. Ensure all entering the ASC are approved applicants and visitors; assist with interior and exterior crowd control and enforce ASC rules and policies. Provide front-line customer service as representatives of Amentum and the United States Government. Highlights of Responsibilities Provide applicants with the highest level of customer service. Work with the public, maintain a cheerful and inviting demeanor, and protect applicants’ Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and biometric data. Perform quality biometrics processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established processing times. Screen applicants for valid appointment notices and identification for entrance to the ASC. Use crowd control barriers to ensure safe and organized entry. Inspect applicants and belongings; during health crises, may ask illness-status questions and may decline entry per requirements. Conduct periodic facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor. Assist the Site Supervisor or government Immigration Service Officer in contacting local law enforcement or first responders when necessary. Manage and complete administrative paperwork such as processing-time tracking, biometrics reconciliation, visitor control logs, facility checks, and other duties as needed. Required Qualifications Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location). High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to speak and write in English. Ability to stand for scheduled shift duration (excluding meals and breaks). Ability to hold and grasp applicants’ hands to obtain quality fingerprints. Ability to work in a high-paced environment with the public. Ability to type and use basic computer skills. Successful completion of the biometrics training and certification within sixty days. Desired Skills Ability to speak a foreign language. Health & Welfare monies may be earned to offset the employer’s benefit costs; any remaining health and welfare monies after deductions are cashed out to the employee on a 1-pay-period lag.
