Residents Driving Change : Investment in Innovation and Shared Learning : Investing in Innovation

Program-Related Investments

Program-related investments (PRIs) from four pioneering foundations brought low-cost funds to The Village. PRIs allow foundations to make low-interest loans to projects that match their social mission. The Rockefeller Foundation and Annie E. Casey Foundation each made $1-million PRI's to Market Creek Plaza. For Rockefeller, it was the first commercial real estate PRI in its history. The F.B. Heron Foundation and The Legler Benbough Foundation each supported the Plaza with a $500,000 PRI.

PRI's from the Jacobs Family Foundation made direct investment in the project, supported patient-debt capital loans for resident-owned businesses at Market Creek Plaza, and established working lines of credit and loan guarantees for community contractors.

We believe in the potential of residents to change their own neighborhoods.
