Residents Driving Change : Investment in Innovation and Shared Learning

Investing in Innovation

Underlying the work to bring The Village at Market Creek to scope is the need to attract $500 million in new investment. A host of public and private learning and investing partners who share the residents’ vision for change have come to the table to work side-by-side with residents taking charge of change.

Financing for The Village challenges traditional philanthropy to do more for social good than make grants at arms length. Funders engage in hands-on work here, entering into an applied learning environment that informs other pieces of their work.

The public sector is leveraging its resources to target government funds and attract low-cost private investment to the communities that need it most.

At Market Creek, loans and investments at low rates keep more money in the community to continue to fuel the community development work, while making resident ownership of the assets possible.
